General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I'm convinced that you won't outrun your acoustical environment, so if you haven't already done so, do some acoustical tweaking. That way you know for sure the best your speakers can do in your real life room. It will also help rule and and out what you might want in a new speaker.

Personally, I love the sound of higher end planars, but cannot afford them. So I tried a few suggested box speakers and settled VERY happily on the VR1s (with a sub of my own to match). The entire Von Schweikert line is really great with the type of music you're listening to (or any type I've tried so far). If you can afford and want full floorstanders, the VR4 Jr. line is excellent. If you can only go about half that price, the VR1 (or LCR MTMs) monitors with the VRS/1 sub is an excellent combo.

All in all, the best we can do is suggest some for you to audition and the rest is between your ear and your wallet.
