Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Uh, no.

"Spikes generally prevent floor vibrations from affecting the speaker (pointed end allows a channel for speaker resonances to escape but allows little area for floor resonances to migrate up)."

This is the "mechanical diode" fallacy. No. Coupling works both ways, equally--as it must.

"Also to make the speaker more rigid so it won't move back and forth
due to bass cone movement."

Better to say, it makes the speaker behave as if it were more massive (i.e. an integral part of the floor), therefore preventing cabinet movement in relation to the drivers.
