I have heard most speakers in N.Z. in the up to $10,000 range - including the JMR's, Gibbon Super 8, De Capo. Also Von Schweikert, Thiele, Zu, all the English brands (that's mostly what we get here)
De Capo are very detailed - need round tubes otherwise were very shrill to my ears
Gibbon Super 8's were lovely, balanced but again did not do so well with SS - with good valve gear they were wonderful!
The JMR's are warmer, not as resolving as the Super 8's but extremely musical and more immediate/emotional - ultimately much better with good SS
I bought the JMR Evolution 3's
