I bought my first set new in 1975 when I was in college. The woofers had surrounds that were like these (except they were not green like these)...they are not supposed to be inverted.Over the years I've had a few sets of smaller advents (through marraige, ironically)...none have been inverted. I have both orange and green tweeter versions.
If you are worried about the woofers, then I would pass. I recently had a set of my Advent woofers refoamed and they don't quite have the bass I remembered when they were new...I am hoping they will break in.
In the same price and size range...I have a set of Dynaco A25's that I like better than the Advents for a variety of reasons...real wood veneer, butyl surrounds that don't need refoaming and there is an upgrade path if you are into that sort of thing (I replaced mine with newer Seas tweeters and they sound much better). Just my 2 cents...
