Tubes or Class A-SS it seems but taht original Robertosn from Singapore an AB amps was NOT bad at all.

But my favourite for near-field is a pr of LEAK TL12.1 gone over or TL25's rewired to triode mode also gone over.

next would be a pr of 'TL12 plus' with bigger PSU's and a triode input tube.

next a done-up LEAK St20.

the ARC Classic 30 and Classic 60 are both superb.

Have any of you ever put yr 57's right against the longwall (to each side) and angled them in, suitably treating the walls - in front at least - when the bass WILL surprise you! 1/3rd down the room and it is way better than in from the walls IMO&E.

I have been lent 57's and helped set them up as you might guess, and always wanted a pr, but bought something ELSE!!!!!!
