I second going to the local dealer. The small difference you pay in price will likely more than be made up for in service. I would be willing to bet that your local dealer will pay much more attention to assuring that you system is set up properly, where at the national chain, some guys will show that could care less about you or the sound and throw it together (probably incorrectly at that). The delivery guys don't care how you like it, they just deliver. Your local dealer cares, he wants you back again. The same goes for the sales guy at the big chain. He views you as a one shot deal. He knows that there is very little chance he will be there (if) you come back to purchase something else. The local dealer wants you to come back.
There are also little perks a local dealer will often give you that a chain will not. For instance, local dealers will often let known customers take home equipment to demo, no charge, no deposit, etc. Try that a local chain. Also, if you do have a problem with a component, most local dealers will try to provide you with a loaner while yours is being repaired. It also helps if you have a warranty problem to have a dealer that knows you, that will go to the rep and take it up with them, as opposed to a big box store that could care less.
My two cents, take them for what they are worth.
