It's well known that Magnepan crossover components are their weak link. If they built them with higher quality components, a great speaker would be even better. Such construction would adress the weaknesses you pointed out, unfortunately, they would make the product alot more expensive.
Thus the great popularity of DIY Maggie mods.It think it would be interesting to compare the Vandy' 3a sig to a pair of x-over and stand modded MG 1.6's.
