I too recently have switched from Maggies (MG12's) to Vandersteens (2ce sigs), and after about 5 weeks I'm quite sure that the Vandys are for me (actually after 10 minutes). The Maggies did have a bit more magic for me, more in-the-room magic, but the Vandersteens have a more clearly defined soundstage, a much fuller sound, and, as you say, more detail. Very satisfying indeed. Also, I was always moving the 12's around, even after 2 years, trying to compensate for weaknesses, but the 2ce sigs have been happily in one spot for the whole time.
Am thinking of moving up to the 3a sigs soon, as I have heard they are just more beautiful sounding. Just have to find the right used pair.
