Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Speaker placement and room acoustics appear to be a primary concern.

I have similar restrictions and I think that a pair of OHM Walsh 100's M3 will fit the bill quite nicely. I admitt to being very biased, I do own a pair, but here are a few points.

They throw a very wide soundstage and are not nearly so sensitive to placement as direct radiators. You have plenty of poswer to allow them to breathe. In room bass goes down to 29hz. Small footprint 10x13x40. They are on wheels for easy placement. Using spikes has no discernable effect, its been tried! Very coherent, one driver goes from 30hz to 8khz at which point a super tweeter takes over. Liquid mids, tight controlled and balanced base, and transparent presentation describe the music that you hear.

Give John a call, he's in Brooklyn NY. For about half your budget you can choose the veneer of your choice. Mine are in flamed maple with a natural finish.

I have nothing to do with OHM Acoustics, just a very satisfied customer.

Have a good search.
