Re: Spendor S6e or Von Schweikert VR4jr

I have the VR4jr's and run them with high-quality, high-powered Canary tube monoblocks and a Canary tubed preamp. There is nothing "dry" about them in my system. However, in your system I might recommend the Spendor due to the fact that you are running your CDP directly into a SS amp. My experience doing that with the VR4jr's was less satisfying. I ran a Resolution Audio Opus 21 into a BAT VK-500 and didn't care for the results--drier and flatter. Obviously, I prefer the sounds of tubes, and your 308T may just do the trick. The VR4jr was reportedly voiced using the Spectron Musician III--a high-quality "digital" power amp.

As for the quality of the VR4jr's, just read the many professional reviews. Ka7nig (as opposed to Ka7niq, a legitimate member here) is a troll who is continuously looking for a thread to put down VSA and their Chinese operations. Do a search, and you'll see what I mean. It is particularly telling that Ka7nig chose a moniker so close to Ka7niq, a member who has often championed VSA speakers based on his own experience.
