If your transport could be improved and your Dac could be improved (as you said), why not consider an all-in-one CD player. The best I have heard that are relatively affordable are the Rega Apollo and Saturn, and the Ayre CX-7e. If cost is not an issue, then the sky is the limit, but the newish EMM Labs CDSA SE is supposed to be very, very good. I did not see what your amp is, so will leave my thoughts at the CD players.
