I own a pair of Legacy Focus 20/20 speakers that are maybe 3 years old that replaced the first BMW 801 speakers series. I can only tell you that the sound is all that I would expect from a pair of speakers. Understanding that nothing is like live music, this certainly is a fantastic speaker capable of deep bass and excellant highs, while the midrange(its strongest point) is superb. What I have noticed about these speakers is that different amps will definately change your impression of them and careful room setup is very important. Sitting on a hardwood floor without using the spikes that came with them and your bass is overpowering and literaly floorshaking. Once properly setup, I recommend the Radio Shack sound pressure meter to help with that, they will put a smile on your face. Unless of course you use amplifiers that are not compatable with them. I have had great luck with my SET Dignity Audio amplifiers from Mr Poon at Monarchy Audio(8 watts per channel) bi-amping them to total 16 watts each speaker. I now get a very very clear reproduction of the midrange and also ample bass. These replaced a pair of Monarchy Audio SE-250 hybrid mono block amplifiers at 250 watts per side. Do not be fooled these little SET amps are powerhouses, when I hooked up my 75 watt McIntosh MC275(original issue) the SET Dignity Audio amps sounded way better and more powerful, not sure why, the MC275 had driven my 801's just fine. Anyway, check out these speakers especially used if you can find them, not many people seem to be parting with these and I almost never see them for sale, a good sign people are satisfied with them. Of course speaker wire, cabling, power conditioning, room treatments and so on will also have an effect on them.
