Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Over time she'll like the cherry better

Black was unique and looked "modern" when it first appeared on high end speakers years ago. Now black is the standard on low end, usually vinyl speakers. Why Polk and others would paint real hardwood veneer black is beyond me. JBL did the same thing on my old black painted ash veneer LS7s.
The cherry will surely have a higher resale too, I think.
Black does have one advantage. It's easier to touch up dents and scratches on it.
One other thing. For years I have used speakers without the grills. The RTi10s are one of the few speakers which look better with the grills on. Maybe because of the silver front baffle. May be why she liked the black better?
