4K-5K HT/Music System

Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I am in the process of building up my first real speaker system for my basement (~400-450 sft). I would like it to be for both HT and music use (~ 40%/60%). Based on prelim research I have come up with the following choices:
Paradigm Studio 100 Reference + CC 470 +Studio 20
Definitive Technology BP 7002/4 + C/L/R 2300-3000 + BP VX/VXP
Energy Reference Connnoiseur RC 50-70 + RC-LCR + Energy S 12.3+ RC-R
Klipsch RF- 54, 82, 63 (complete system)
I was also considering the following L/R speakers with the plan of combining with an appropriate sub+surround
B & W 703/704
Canton Ergo 609-607
Kef xQ one and five
Polk Audio Lsi 15-25
Gallo Accoustics Nucleus Reference
I plan to couple this to a Denon AVR 2807 and a Loewe Aconda TV (though the TV will probably upgraded a bit later). What do you guys think of these choices and should I be considering any others - NHT/Thiel/etc. Also a gen question --> When exactly are an amp/pre-amp/controller required as opposed to a gen purpose receiver?
