Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I've never actually measured the frequencies involved....

But I'd assume the upper-mids/low highs. Proper speaker set up, including toe in, and room acoustics including appropriate treatments, I think causes most problems. Next is speaker design. Lastly electronics. But with electronics you usually will have an overall brightness not just sibilence.

Easiest way to attack sibilence initially is to toe your speakers so that you are listening to them further off axis. Initially, to see if the toe in is an issue, toe them in so that the axis of the speakers cross well in front of your listening position, 3 to 4ft. Thats assuming you have your speakers and listening position set up in the classic triangle.

FWIW.
