Ironically in the stock design, the large Advent woofer with the fuzzy dust cap is paralleled with two series connected 4 ohm/10watt resistors in order to strap it's impedance down to 4ohms in order to match the 4 ohm cone midrange. The woofer and cone midrange are in a series connected filter. There are lots of options available, but the simplest would be to find a nice automobile 5 1/4" mid/woofer with similar efficiancy. I'm pretty sure the original midrange was a Philips unit, but in the context of this repair that's like when recommending a replacement automobile tire, 'Go for the rubber one.'I have to think that Madisound could probably offer the OP two or three drop in replacements for the cone midrange that will be cheap. They may even have the original unit.
