I ask not to be a wise ass, but you seem to be of the impression that the VR1s lack bass response. You'll only know if you put them nearer and farther away from a back wall and actually listen in a real room. Forget the reviews you may have read (I'm recalling a recent thread in which you commented) and try out the real thing.If you think they're weak in bass when you audition them or don't like them for any reason, then move on.
I'd not buy ANY speaker without extensive auditions. At worst I'd only buy with a true money back guarantee if it were truly impossible to audition them.
