In my experience, I feel that 1" tweeters have a better frequency response in the lower end, in that they can be crossed over lower. In this situation, I find that the lower xover point gives a more open sound. That is just my own experiences and I have always liked the 1" better. I am referring to a titanium dome in my comment, though I am not sure how it would pertain to a silk dome.
