I am an advocate of rolling off the extreme low end and passing that to the sub for two reasons not mentioned:
1. That permits you to position the S8s for optimal balance and imaging without the constraint of getting the extreme bass bass right as well. Accomplishing all three is usually not possible and leads to compromise.
2. The sub can be positioned for optimal bass performance and equalized to minimize the influence of room modes which are inevitable in that range.Kal
