1. The active equalizer that Bose makes specifically for this speaker (without that, you're toast); and, either

2. A receiver or an integrated amp with either (a) preamp outputs and main amp inputs or a "tape monitor" or "external processor loop" which is a set of line-level inputs and outputs for connecting up the active equalizer; or

3. A separate pre amp and power amp, in which case you wire things like this: preamp>Bose equalizer>power amp.
