I have owned 801 S2 since new and recently moddded the crossover to S3 specs. The mod includes 7 steps, B&W England suggested I try 5 steps since I did not want to change out my orignal tweeter. When I modded the crossover it opened up but sounded a bit bright on top.
Then I did the one (The other is to upgrade to S3 tweeter) of the final modifications by putting a resistor in line to soften the top but that seems to have moved the brightness into the vocal frequency area. B&W England says let the resistor break in for 30 days or replace the tweeter with the another orignal. B&W USA says that maybe I used a bad or cheap resistor or that I should install a new S3 tweeter. What to do ?
Undo the mod, replace the resistor, replace the S2 tweeter with another S2 or with the S3 fluid filled model ? Thanks
