IMHO nothing else quite has that Maggie Magic. Maggie is not a harsh mistress, but she is a demanding one. If you like the sound and can put up with the demands she makes; lots 'o current and fussy placement, then $500 doesn't sound too bad a price ... depending on condition!

Remember, these are probably all of 25 years old. Send some bass through them and listen for any rattles or buzzing sounds. Buzzing indicates that the "voice coil" wires have come unglued from the mylar. Either have to ship to Magnepan for repair or do it DIY. Make sure the ribbon tweeters work.
