hey Robert,take a drive over to Guitar Center on Halsted (2600 N.), they have a host of desktop monitors avail that the pro-sound guys use.
I bought a pair of M-Audio Studipphile D-4 for about $150 per pair, they sound awesome for pc speakers...a huge wide soundstage and great bass for a 4" woof.
