I don't think I'd bother with refoaming the woofers. The AAL speakers, from my experience, aren't worth the effort.I have a pair of AAL-10 3-way, 75 watt RMS, 150 Watt max. power. 10" woofer, 5" mid-range, 2.5" tweeter. The speakers are in great condition physically, but overall they give an under-whelming performance. The woofers fail to command attention. They lack the sharpness and detail I expect from a woofer. To give you an example... they make Led Zepplin's drummer (John Bonham), arguably the best drummer in rock history, sound like an average ho-hum. Van Halen's hard driving music is limping along. There's just no soul, no back-bone to these woofers.
The mid-range is even more disappointing. It is completely lost. Rather than displaying the heart of the music, the mid-range is muted and dull. My old 1970's vintage Realistic (tandy Radio Shack) minimus 5's blow these away for mid-range.
The tweeter is just annoying. It shrieks the music. The sound is anything but pleasing as the tweeters are really harsh and shrill.
If you find a pair of AAL speakers on the side of the road... then great, it's a good find. They are worth more than nothing. If you have to spend $10.00 to repair them... I'd save my money. You could buy a better pair of speakers at a garage sale for that $10.00. I don't care what brand they are, they will probably produce a better quality sound than AAL's. For your time, cost and effort of re-foaming these speakers, you could check E-Pay and buy a much better vintage set.
Just my opinion. Hope it helps.
