Hello, BrianI see that you use Sound Labs Ultimates, so I can understand why you wouldn't want to trade. But the Acoustats, despite their age, are still formidable performers. There is nothing quite like the coherence of a truly full-range electrostat, as I am sure you can attest.
I have heard that the direct drive amps are the way to go with these speakers, but my main objection to them is the severe "head in a vise"
posture necessary to get the most from them regardless of all other considerations. This is what my experiment is designed to ameliorate.Thanks for your input,
