Twin Signatures, Trentes...and Cantabile Signatures

The Twin Sigs are wonderful speakers but even JMR is not clever enough to design at $1300 speaker that sounds as good as his $3000 one. So no, the Twin Sigs are not as good as the Trentes. Not as resolving, mainly. They have the same overall voice - warm, natural, immediate - but not as clear a voice. What is attractive about them is that they don't seem to be missing anything when you hear them. They are not conspicuously lacking in anything, which is why they have proved so popular through several iterations. They do not make you think about audio.

The interesting (and more logical) comparison is between the Trentes and the new Cantabile Signatures, which sell for less than the Trentes did. The Cantabs make the Trentes sound a bit opaque, which of course they are not. The Trentes sound more like the Twin Sigs than they sound like the Cantabs. The Cantabs are notably more informative than the Trentes, especially in the bass, giving them a less weighty presentation. But they too have the JMR family sound. The natural warmth and immediacy are still there.
