I have a beautiful set of KEF 104.2s that I love but there's one problem...the top woofer surround has rotted away on one of the speakers (guess i should check the other one too huh?). There's only one speaker repair guy in the Chicagoland area that anyone trusts and he said that replacing the surround or reconing the driver would leave me disappointed as he has done it for another customer and they both agreed it didn't sound right at all. Any suggestions? Are there any good modern 8" drivers that would be suitable replacements for these complex speakers (keeping in mind that since each 104.2 has 2 8" drivers connected by a steel rod, I'd have to buy 4 new drivers)?
