Re: ***Large Advents*** In For Audition, etc.; Summary

Well, I've played everything through 'em; Abba to the Zombies. ;-)

(*sigh*)...They're probably going back to the shop today - while I basically enjoy the big, vintage sound, the tweeter (I fear) is a bit glary and spiky. The crucial test: the remastered Led Zeppelin II took the skin on my face off! (The old, 80's CD actually sounded clear and present - that's a warning!) The midrange exhibited a bit of "hash" as well. The basic design of this speaker is good, but the old drivers probably can't keep up with a thirty years of design improvements in that area. There are probably folks here who could DIY some new tweeters in their own Advents that would fit in with the crossover slope, but I can barely change a lightbulb, so that's not for me!

Next, maybe some big-baffle, 2-way Dahlquists?

Cheers,
LoS
