Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Re: What are cost effective and quality ways to raise a floorstander 3 inches?

Don't ask cost first, ask functionality. Anything you're going to use needs to be for sonic reasons first, then esthetics and cost. Consider the need for vibration control between speaker cabinet and floor. Try isolation, then coupling or combos and see what works. Look in the archives here at Tweaks asylum for lots of cheap suggestions.

When you find what works for you, you can always upgrade for quality, functionality and esthetics.

As to the sound reflection, you might want to try other speaker placements that reduce the reflection from the side of your entertainment center cabinet. In fact, I'm only guessing here, but have you ever tried someting like room lens clones behind or beside your speakers? Easy to mock up for under $30 a pair and might do the trick. Sure work well behind my speakers, which have an upright piano between them!
