Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Tyler Acoustics break in issues.

I have about 80 hours on some new Tyler Acoustic signature monitors & have noticed a “graininess” coupled with a lack of definition in the midrange. Since the purportedly excellent Seas millennium tweeter has yet to show much in the way of definition or extension ,I am assuming that these speakers will just take thier own sweet time breaking in as some have suggested 200 hours before things start to sound normal with the tweeter taking the longest to break in.I know everything else is working well because my Silverline SR-17V3 with thier excellent dynaudio drivers just went out the door a few days ago.& had none of these "problems" with my RA Tempest II. I started with the 8 ohm taps but switched to the 4 omh taps as I thought initially the 4 sounded better. What experience do folks have with these speakers? Perhaps the speakers do not like the tube amp as they do drop to about 3 ohms in the bass & it could be the amp with it’s low current does not like the load & has manifested higher than average distortion as the speaker breaks in. I would appreciate it if some Tylers owners would weigh in on thier break in & amp/cable compatibility issues.

Thanks

Bill
