Snell speakers always perform much better than the sum of the parts.

I have taken the drivers out and there is nothing special about the cabinet construction. I was told that the sound quality comes from painstaking selection of drive units, and crossovers so that the pair are perfectly matched to each other.
Replacing with different tweeters has probably disturbed the fine balance. You may get it back, or you may not till you replace like with like.
