Can Verity Fidelios Rock?

I continue to be in "shopping" mode, and have become interested in the Verity Audio Fidelios. Unfortunately there are no dealers close by, and I've needed to rely on reviews and this site.

In general I'm impressed by what's been written about the Fidelios. However, some have commented that they lose a bit of focus at higher volumes, and they don't convey the 'drive' or 'aggression' of rock music very well. Although I listen primarily to acoustic jazz, classical (chamber, vocal and orchestral), bluegrass and singer/songwriter stuff, I do enjoy bouts with the Melvins, The Stooges, Tool, Fugazi, P-funk, NIN and similar music best enjoyed at healthy SPLs. How do the Fidelios fare with this type of music? I've gotta arrange a listening session somehow, but until then would really appreciate any comments you might have.

They'd be driven by a CTC BBQ (close cousin to the JC-1s) and I'd likely retain my subwoofer (ACI Titan) to fill in the low end.

BTW, I am also interested in the Merlin VSM-MMs and understand they might be better when it's time to "kick out the jams". I just wish (er, my WIFE wishes) that Bobby would make them in a nice wood veneer...

TIA for your input.
