General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Re: Amen to that

my wife and I had my piano teacher and her husband over a few weeks ago for dinner after which we sat down to listen to Clifford Curson's playing Mozart's #20 Concerto, at the end of the performance she had tears in her eyes over the beauty of his playing and commented how she couldn't believe how it seemed like she was there at the performance.

Point is audiophiles really get caught up in sound to the point it is what they are first hear. Non-audiophiles hear the music. The Merlins made me an audiophile only in the respect that it took me time to realize what they can REALLY do and to hear past the limitations of the rest of the system. I don't believe too many speakers get it right to the extent they can but on the other hand it took me time to get there. Something to consider when listening to your list. The fact that some don't like their presentation shouldn't preclude them. Yes, the Cremona's are easier and are beautiful speakers aesthetically and I do like them but they really can't convey the realism of a properly set-up pair of VSM's. Of course what you like is most important, trust your ears.
