"Real music doesn't sound warm and forgiving to me but it is amazing how often "musical" is attributed to those reproduced Characteristics"Rather sweeping statement. Doesn't that depend on the setting of the "live" music. I've heard numerous live settings that were warm and presented the music that way. Esp, with live jazz (acoustical or otherwise) and classical (small group). Did you mean the GooGoo Dolls playing at the Staple Center? Well, even though I like the music, I couldn't listen to it from more than a couple hours.
I like the Merlins and I like the Avantegard Duo's also. But I also think for the average joe, the associated equipment matching is a bit much, especially in a "double as a HT system" as our friend wants. Then again, maybe we should have asked him how far he is willing to go, which I'll do right now.
