It's worth noting, since another poster mentioned the bass on the PSB Stratus Gold I's, that I owned a pair before purchasing the Merlins. The bottom end of the merlins provides bass output that is vastly more refined and detailed than the PSBs, extends to, for all intents and purposes, the same depth, as well as is roughly comparable in LF output. When I listen to a bass guitar with the merlins, it is clearly defined in space, and the different notes are clearly delineated. With the PSBs, the same bass guitar is not nearly as well defined in space and sounds much more monotone. I view the PSBs as a wonderful speaker and an incredible bargain, but the VSM-MMs are in a completely different league.
