Re: Merlin, Sonus Faber, B&W, Martin Logan

I haven't listed to the others, but your description of "well defined highs and a good mid-range with wide soundstage. The bass doesn't have to reach the lowest octave" and "Jazz, classical, vocals and acoustical" fits the Martin Logans Odysseys to a tee. You can definitely find more bass in other speakers (my PSB Stratus Golds generate much more bass), but to my ears, the Martin Logan is magical on Jazz, classical, vocals, and acoustical. They do not rock as much as many other conventional speakers though (so some may say not as well suited for HT use). I am building my HT around Martin Logans, but my HT needs take a back seat to my 2 channel listening. Stereophile Guide to Home Theater lists a Martin Logan based system (Prodigy's up front) as one of their AAAA rated speaker systems,
