..."unlistenable", so maybe this wasn't a perfect pair. I can also say that here in New York, I have heard the Thiels in a variety of environments... most not-so-good, and some excellent. This is true of many demoes I have had with myriad components in different rooms.So... where does this leave us? IMO, the Thiels are definitely harder to "get good" (tonally) than other speakers, but they can be very fluid and delicate in a proper room. This is not the best speaker for R&R (natch), but very seductive for female vocals, IMO. Another stupid "In my opinion".... the Krell ain't so bad, it's usually the room and choice of software. Want a smoothed-over presentation? DEFINITELY look elsewhere. Too many variables to be certain...
I can, however, see where you come from.
