... the AlNiCo's have cylindrical pole pieces and a horse-shoe shaped "surround"... but NOT ALWAYS. Some have bell-covers over the magnets, and some have round magents that don't look that much different than ceramic magnets. Do a search for "alnico" or "alnico speaker*" at eBAY and look at some in the flesh. CAVEAT: some sellers, intentionally or otherwise, mis-represent magnets in their descriptions.Dave Duglos has a good page on AlNiCo and speakers (link below):
