Sealed or aperiodic sub- woofer

64.223.213.43

Hi all,I have found on the beach a heavy sewer tube,12 inches in diamater and 2 and a half feet long.I plan to build a sub-woofer,down firing with a 12 inch Titantic sub-woofer from Parts Express.I have seen that Parts Express sells an enclosure thats 3 cubic feet and is optimal for this woofer.I will be using 2 and 1/2 cubic feet.Should I enclose the top and make it air tight,or put a variovent or variovents on the end like Dynaco did to lower the Q,and have the ability to use a smaller enclosure.I'm not going to buy a larger pipe. Also as in a transmission line should I stuff it with Dacron to increase the apparent volume of the pipe?Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks Mark Korda.PS..This is a nice green PVC pipe, really sturdy, and I have a cross over and will be using a push-pull tube amp such as a Dyna Mark 3.I have a small room and will not be listening at loud levels.
