Yeah, you are right, I dont have a lot of respect for him.
The whole NRC stuff is a sham, what did they " discover ' anyway ?
Its just rehashed bullshit with some new twists thrown in.
When you have been at the audio hobby for over 30 years as I have, its hard to bull shit me.
Some of you newer fellows may take a knee for Floyd, but he is just another pseudo guru as far as I am concerned.
Not that thats bad mind you, but he isnt God, and I dont happen to agree with some of his methodology, thats all.
If you read the hype, and believe it, they would have you believe he reinvented the wheel !
The stuff he supposedly discovered, uniform off axis dispersion, low distortion, flat on axis response, etc is, and has been well known !
Matter of fact, the Electro Voice Interface D's I had from the 70's Bragged about how perfect its Polar Plot was !
To Quote EV " The Interface D has the most uniform horizontal and vertical pattern ever measured in the EV anechoic chamber "
The EV chamber BTW was the largest in North America at that time.
And since EV also made the microphones too, they could hand select calibrated mikes for their measurements.
But Floyd needs and designs for wide dispersion, do you know why ?
So, when he is out ice fishing on the cold canadien tundra, he can simply play the mating sound of whales and have the eskimo's come a running, EH ?
