Speaker Recommendations for Mistral Integrated

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I'm looking for some speaker recommendations in the $1,000 - $1,500 range that would be a good match with a Mistral Integrated (basic model). The source component is an Arcam CD72. Among the brands carried by dealers in my area are ProAc, Totem Acoustic, Meadowlark, JMLab and Paradigm. Room situation necessitates speakers being closer rather than farther away from wall. Thought the Totem Acoustic Sttaf might be a good choice because it seemed like it could handle being closer to the wall without unduly compromising the sound.
