It got a rave review from TAS (see link).I auditioned it and was quite impressed by its transparency, soundstage, dynamics, attack, poise and refinement. Pretty neutral, all in all. Terrific with voices.
Opinions are what they are. I have a pair of 10-yr old KEF Reference 103/4 about which Tom Norton (Stereophile) and Martin Colloms (HFNR) wrote diametrically opposed things:
TN:"... a rather crisp, top-heavy quality wich lent an impressive clarity to the sound, but which tended to be overly analytical."
MC: ".... consistently sweet and creamy. Even when certain programs could -- and perhaps should -- have been forward and aggressive, the 103/4 toned them down."
TN:" Percussion had excessive zip and isolated HF notes pushed unnaturally forward."
MC: "The speaker lacked crispness on percussive sounds."
TN: " There was a step-into transparency through much of the frequency range which produced a lively, clear quality."
MC: "... I was disappointed by [the speaker's] moderate transparency."
Enough said.
I almost bought the Veritas 2.3 (but in the end I decided instead to add an ACI Force subwoofer to my KEF, which now sound like a different pair of full-range speakers.) They are wonderful and they should give you a lot pleasure for a long time.
Regards,
og
