I'm moving into a new place and want to find a pair of speakers that take up less space than my Vandersteen 2 CE Signatures. I've got those set up in near field position around five feet from the back wall and five or six feet from my listening position. I'd like to replace them with a pair of speakers I could place as close to the rear wall as possible, hopefully less than the standard two feet most speakers require. Any suggestions? Monitors would be ok as I'm not as enamored of deep, deep bass as I was when I bought the Vandy's. Greater efficiency would be nice, though.
