It is interesting to compare Muldaur's recording of "Please Don't Be That Way" (from HOT CLUB OF SAN FRANCISCO) with the great Ella Fitgerald's (from TAKE LOVE EASY on XRCD). Now, it's almost unfair to compare anyone with Ella, considered by many THE finest interpreter of popular songs and perhaps the greatest single voice in the history of popular music. And I have to admit, the Fitgerald rendition is an exemplar. But Maria's is the one that brings a smile to my face, with its exquisite vocal mannerisms and sense of style.P.S.
