Rush's biggest plus right now is concerts. And live recordings. Mainly for the classics. "Spirit of Radio", "Tom Sawyer", "Red Barchetta", "Subdivisions" etc. ..... (As I said, I don't remember any song on "Vapor Trails" besides the title track.)When I heard that single, I was hoping for something that seemed fresh. Kind of like the Who's single, which I had the opposite reaction. An overture of what I think is the greatest rock release in a LONG time. I was hoping Rush could do the same, but its single didn't trigger that kind of hope.
To me, I thought Rush was really onto something with Signals, and remained that way until Power Windows.... It seemed like NP's imagnitive songwriting hit the wall after that, and has never really recovered. (I think most rock artists run out of ideas. Some after two albums, others after 20. Peart's run was a good one, but not a great one, in this regard.)
