I saw Moby Grape play a couple of times.Jerry Miller was the main lead player and was a very hot player. The drummer, Stevenson, was a powerhouse.
Miller and Stevenson had played in Pacific Northwest "Louie Louie" bands and the driving bassplayer, Mosley, was a surfer with a penchant for soul music. It's because of those three guys that the band rocked harder than any of the other hippie bands, most of which in retrospect were pretty lame.
