News: Townshend Experimenting, Daltrey Recuperating
A piece of computer software inspired the lead track on The Who's 2006 album, Endless Wire. In a few weeks, composer/guitarist Pete Townshend will make that software available to people who subscribe to a new Web site he is launching. Townshend described the concept during his keynote speech at the South By Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin. "You enter data about yourself, you share some stuff about how you feel, and you get back a piece of music. It may sound terrible or it may sound beautiful. This is an authentic portrait."Earlier in the week, The Who canceled a concert in mid-song because vocalist Roger Daltrey has a bad case of bronchitis. That gig, in Tampa, was rescheduled for March 25. The band's next scheduled performance is Saturday (March 17) in Mexico City.
