OMG, finally saw the performance online. i can see why DLR wouldn't go onstage with velvet revolver. they sucked!
but, in all fairness, Dave would have at least made is listenable. the band did okay. slash isn't a shredder and certainly isn't EVH. he's more of a blues-rock guy. so, i can't fault him when he jacked the intro to one of VH's easier songs. and I'll also cut him some slack that he didn't play 90% of the notes in the EVH solos. he just can't play like Eddie. not many can.
but WTF did they do to "Runaround"? that wasn't even the song. screaming "runaroundroundroundround" is NOT the song. it's almost like Scott was making fun of van halen. the band was really sloppy on it too.
i mean if you don't like the VH and aren't willing to properly rehearse the songs, why even induct the band and play their music.
yes, Dave's a tool and could have saved the day, but he might have dodged a bullet by not going onstage with velvet revolver.
i hope Eddie stays with rehab. they are one the bands that i never got to see. I'd like to see them if they have their shit together, but I'm not paying money to witness a train wreck.
