Home Rocky Road

From Classic Rock to Progessive to hip hop to today's hot new tunes!

Sufjen has what I'd describe as the new,

sensitive male voice. Oh, so smooth and soothing and sounds like ten other guys.
Sigur Ros?
Okay, I'll listen to them again but it doesn't sound terribly inventive, propulsive, dynamic. Don't know the other two but there are gazillions of bands out there.
White Stripes? Yeah, Jack's got licks but I don't see a lot of development from cd to cd over the years and yes, I've owned them all. Boom, boom, smash, twang...repeat. Good but hardly great. He has a marvelous way with melody and comes up with lots of catchy stuff.
Strokes? Great first album, repetition thereafter.
Interpol's first was damn fine. Haven't yet heard the second but I hear it's good, too.
But all of these guys are doing a lot of borrowing. I like 'em, sure, but great? Hmmm.
Wilco is definitely an original but hardly "new" since Uncle Tupelo goes waaaaaaay back.
