No one sounds remotely as huge, rhythmical, inventive, and revolutionary. Page Hamilton, lead singer and guitar, and drummer Stanier are the vertex of their respective instruments.
I'd put "The Butthole Surfers" in that elite category, also, however their quality varies enormously whereas "Helmet" had few poor songs (though with much less output, granted).
"Helmet" are so much mightier than those that have come before or after, a dimension larger, that they reduce many bands one heretofore appreciated to quasi-insignificance.
